Update

September 2024 Meeting Minutes

  1. Board meeting was held at the beginning of the month and we had two members at large join the board to observe and participate. Thank you to Aurelio and Zach for your input.
    1. Aurelio has volunteered to assist in the administration of the Homebrew Competition of the Mundelein Craft Beer Festival.
    2. Any others interested in attending future board meetings should contact the board.
  2. CHAOS BrewBQ was held in August and attended by a handful of club members with two club members pouring their homebrew.
  3. Leah recently hosted a bonfire and bottle share on Sept 13 and the club hopes to foster similar events in the future.
  4. Upcoming events,
    1. Beers and Bikes on Oct 12 at noon starting at Perfect Brewing, sign up at https://northurbanbrewingsociety.com/event/2024-beer-bike/.
    2. Beer Train Event to Highwood (Broken Tee, 28 Mile Distillery), date is TBD.
    3. 10 Year Anniversary Party, Feb 1, 2024 at Tonality from noon to 3.
      1. Special menu and brews TBD.
    4. The board is looking for suggestions on other field trips (day trip or overnighters).
      1. Sugar Creek Malt in Lebanon, IN
      2. Chicago Riverwalk (bit late for this years Oktoberfest)
      3. Half Acre Brewing tour
      4. Movie night (someone’s backyard or at the store)
  5. Food at meetings.
    1. Board will start a signup/rotation for someone to bring food and be reimbursed.
  6. Ice for bus tubs will be handled by Dan and Jim for the time being.
  7. Ed Aiello shared his experience with the National Homebrew Competition entering a beer and serving as a steward and the BJCP mentorship program.

    2. Sept 21, Deerfield Harvest Festival
    3. Wine / Grape season is approaching if interested, delivery is first week of October
    4. Cider specific apples will be available in early to mid October from nearby orchard
