Potential Joint Competition with Chaos Brew Club
- The board discussed a small BJCP-sanctioned competition among NUBS, Chaos Brew Club, and possibly other local clubs (Club W.O.R.T. was referenced elsewhere as a peer club โ not confirmed as a participant here), sized around 100โ150 total entries.
- BJCP requires 90 days’ advance notice, so the earliest possible date would be November.
- Perfect Brewing Supply was confirmed as a willing drop-off location by Andy .
- Members discussed how to keep the competition local โ options raised included a short entry window and encouraging members to pre-arrange entries informally before the window opens, to get ahead of out-of-state entrants.
Beer Advent Calendar
- Organized by Cindy (not in attendance): members share up to 24 bottles with up to 24 people over the Christmas season.
- Interested members should contact Cindy via the club’s general email address.
Guest Presentation: Legions of Craft Beer Festival
- Representatives from the Gurnee American Legion โ presented on the 9th annual Legions of Craft Beer Festival, October 3, at the Legion Grounds.
- Homebrewers are invited to host tables and pour their beer; the top three homebrewers receive gift cards.
- All proceeds benefit local veterans in Lake County.
- Described as a low-pressure, beginner-friendly event (roughly 300 attendees last year); participating brewers receive food tickets to share with guests.
- Interested members should sign up at least a week in advance via the festival’s site : gurneelegionsofbeer.com
- A separate, unrelated mention: a member floated organizing a charter fishing trip on Lake Michigan โ informal, not club business; flagged in case you want it omitted from the public record.
